Hometown Habitat, Stories of Bringing Nature Home The Hometown Habitat film is nearing completion! "Everything is coming together and we plan to release the film during Earth Week!" states Catherine Zimmerman, producer of the film. She says, "We are very excited about progress on the documentary, including finalizing the name, Hometown Habitat, Stories of Bringing Nature Home."
As part of the production process, an official website is being developed and will be rolled out in March. The website will feature a twelve minute trailer of Hometown Habitat and other film clips, a film description and summaries of the eight film segments, information on how to find screening events, resources on how to create your own Hometown Habitat, and much more.
Funds are still needed to wrap up this project. An Indiegogo fundraising campaign launched on February 13th that will lead right up to Earth Week and the film release. The goal is to raise at least $35,000 dollars, to spread the word about the film, and to build a sense of excitement about the film launch. Please consider donating and help spread the word about conservation landscaping.
To learn more about the film visit The Meadows Project website.

Chesapeake Conservation Landscape Professionals Program UpdateWork continues on the development of the Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) certification initiative. The CBLP Steering Committee finalized details regarding the structure and processes for the program in late fall 2015. Since that time, work has been focused on developing content for CBLP, including the program standards and outcomes and study manual. CBLP Coordinators have enlisted the help of more than 45 technical experts from across the Bay region to help create the study materials and exam that will form the foundation of the certification process. CBLP training partners will help develop a strategy and implementation plan for the pilot program this spring, with a goal of launching the pilots in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia in summer 2016.
If you would like more information about CBLP, please contact Lead Coordinator, Beth Ginter, at beth@chesapeakelandscape.org.
