Our Mission

The Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council is a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to researching, promoting, and educating the public about conservation-based landscaping practices to benefit the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The Council is committed to implementing best practices that result in a healthier and more beautiful environment that benefits residents and the region’s biodiversity.

The Council will work to advance the following principles:

  • Developing conservation landscaping standards of practice;
  • Promoting conservation landscaping techniques;
  • Training the public on conservation landscaping, and
  • Measuring the impact and number of conservation landscaping activities.

When engaged in Council activities, members will promote the Council’s goals and activities, without seeking to promote or endorse any single member organization.

The long term goal of the Conservation Landscaping Council is to advance conservation landscaping practices that have significant ecological benefits for communities throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. As an all-volunteer-non-profit, your support is crucial to helping CCLC make major progress in its mission.

CCLC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations are tax- deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Get Involved

You can get involved and promote further conservation landscaping by using conservation landscaping practices on your property, using conservation landscaping practices on your clients’ properties, and promoting conservation landscaping in your community. To help with that, you can join and volunteer with CCLC and learn more about our committees such as events and training.

Our Programs

The CCLC hosts networking and learning opportunities for professionals in the conservation landscaping community.  Contact us if you have an idea for an event or would like to co-host or sponsor an event. CCLC hosts several events, includings our biannual Turning A New Leaf Conference that brings together professionals from landscape design, contracting, horticulture, planning and education to learn about the latest trends, issues and technologies in the field of conservation landscaping.

About Us

The Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council is a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to researching, promoting and educating professionals and the public about conservation landscaping to protect the Chesapeake Bay. The Council formed in 2003 to promote the principles of conservation landscaping and expand the practice of conservation landscaping throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. In 2009, the Council became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and in 2010, elected its first Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets quarterly and meetings, including the October annual meeting, are open to the public.
